Scotch Lovers Retreat
Depending on your location, this trip might be best left for a longer trip. The Scottish Highlands are a whisky lover’s dream providing a lovely scenic trip with plenty of stops along the way. Of course when considering a road trip the addition of whisky might not be wise for the driver, but you can certainly enjoy visiting some of the historical distilleries. Take turns with a friend or spouse when it comes to sampling the smoky flavours of Scotch whiskey as this trip is a good four days and over 400 miles. You can start off from Edinburgh and the trip can include the following distillery stops:
- Blair Athol with a stay over in Pitlochry
- Dalwhinnie with a night in Inverness
- Glenfiddich stopping in Dufftown
- Glenlivet then straight on to Fettercairn
This trip gives the wine routes of France and Italy a run for their money.
Star Struck in Cotswolds
With L.A. a full ocean and continent away, Costswolds is the spot Brits can do a little star gazing. This lovely area has become the home to many celebrities seeking the country manor lifestyle. Charming, quaint and very upscale there is more to see here than a glimpse of fame. However, if star watching is your game give yourself a start in lovely Cirencester for some pretty countryside before heading east towards the home of iconic heroin chic model Kate Moss in Southrop. If that is not enough beauty for one day, head towards Liz Hurley in Barnsley. You can perhaps get a glimpse of Kate Winslet and husband Sam Mendes in Westcote beforecontinuing on to Stow-in-the-Wood and Moreton-in-Marsh. This is an easy day trip sure to provide beautiful scenery be it celebrity spottings or just plain old lovely countryside.
Day Trip to “London-by-the-Sea”
If you’re in the mood for the sea side an easy trip from London to Brighton is in order. A23 south will bring you to open country in short order and the next thing you know you will be enjoying fast roads and beautiful open spaces leading to Brighton. Brighton is now deemed London-by-the-Sea thanks to its higher end shops and restaurants. This is the perfect trip for a high end lunch or a picnic by the sea. If you want to sample the night life, consider an overnight stay at a charming inn and plan to enjoy drinks and dancing at many of the bars. You can also plan to get some shopping in with the countless shops from clothing to jewellery to update your tired wardrobe.
